Slow Betty Jo Tactical Urbanism Project (October 12, 2024)
N. Betty Jo Dr. between W. Jewell Rd. & W. Wedington Dr.

In October 2024, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work on Slow Betty Jo, a long-awaited tactical urbanism project aimed at making Betty Jo Drive safer for the people who live, walk, and play there. With lots of kids playing outside and cars regularly speeding through, something had to change. And thanks to a collaborative effort between the city and many community members, we made it happen! 🎉
So, what changed on Betty Jo?
âś… The city installed a four-way stop, painted on-street parking, and delivered concrete planter boxes.
🎨 We painted bump-outs, installed armadillos, painted the concrete boxes and planted some hearty greenery in them.
🖌️ We also painted a street mural at the new four-way stop! Not only does this slow down traffic, but it also is much more enjoyable than gray concrete.
Many hands made this project possible, from those who helped in the planning stages to those who braved the heat to bring it to life. A huge shoutout to the families from the neighborhood who joined us for installation day, and to Marco’s Pizza for pitching in a few pizzas to keep us fueled! 🍕 Special thanks to Councilmember Monique Jones for showing up and supporting this effort—we’d love to continue working together to make Fayetteville’s streets safer for everyone.

Holly St. Tactical Urbanism Project (October 14, 2023)
W Holly St. between Oakland Ave. & N. Lindell Ave.

In October 2023, we took on a big tactical urbanism project on Holly St. It was a resounding success! The improvements we made are still in use in 2025.
